Lonnie Wheatley, CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (January 28, 2020) – Central Arizona Speedway gets the new decade under way with a bang this Saturday night as the ASCS San Tan Ford Non-Wing Sprint Cars lift the lid on the 2020 season atop the 3/8-mile Casa Grande clay oval.
While the ASCS Non-Wing Sprint Cars headline Saturday night’s card that goes green at 7:00 p.m., the Power 600 Micros, Pure Stocks and Bombers will be in action as well. It will be preceded by an open practice session on Friday night from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with free grandstand admission and $25 pit passes.
Saturday’s season opener marks the first of a handful nights of racing activity at Central Arizona Speedway in February with the IMCA Arizona Dirt Track Tour invading Casa Grande for racing action on Sunday, February 9, and Tuesday, February 11, along with a Monday night (February 10) practice session and then a $1,000-to-win IMCA Modified tilt on Saturday, February 22.
While Joshua Shipley reigns as the ASCS San Tan Ford Non-Wing Sprint Car champion over Kyle Shipley and Dennis Gile, it was Zach Madrid topping last year’s series’ season opener at Central Arizona Speedway before Gile got a taste of CAS victory lane in October.
With the ASCS Non-Wing Sprints taking center stage, a $500 winner’s share is also up for grabs for open Power 600 Micro Sprints with Donald Comstock and Zack Tate entering the season as defending champions in the Pure Stocks and Bombers, respectively.
