USAC Midgets back in Oklahoma on Tuesday at Red Dirt Raceway!

Lonnie Wheatley, MEEKER, Okla. (July 5, 2018) – The return of the USAC National Midget series to the Sooner State is just a few short days away.

After an absence of 43 years, the USAC Midget ranks take to Meeker, Oklahoma’s Red Dirt Raceway for some “Tuesday Night Thunder” next week on Tuesday, July 10.  Non-wing micros will join in on the Tuesday night card that goes green at 7:30 p.m.

The first USAC Midget event to take place in the Sooner State since 1975 kicks off a busy week of USAC Midget competition that continues on Wednesday, July 11, with the “Chad McDaniel Memorial” at the Solomon Valley Raceway in Beloit, KS, before shifting to Fairbury, Nebraska’s Jefferson County Speedway for the Midwest Midget Championship on Friday and Saturday, July 13-14, and then wrapping up at Missouri’s Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex on Sunday, July 15.

Sutter, California’s Logan Seavey, also a series Rookie, leads the way into the week in the hotly-contested series title chase.  A member of the potent Keith Kunz Motorsports fleet, Seavey is just four points ahead of Arizona native Chad Boat with defending series champion Spencer Bayston (another Kunz entry) just nine points off the lead pace in third.

The Clauson-Marshall Racing duo of Zeb Wise and Tyler Courtney round out the top five in current points with others among the top ten including Broken Arrow native Brady Bacon, Kevin Thomas, Jr., Justin Grant, Ryan Robinson and Jerry Coons, Jr.

Other top contenders expected for “Tuesday Night Thunder” at Red Dirt Raceway include Collinsville’s Tyler Thomas, Dave Darland, Tucker Klaasmeyer and Holly Shelton along with a host of home-state shoes such as Matt Moore, Grady Chandler, Ace McCarthy, Cannon McIntosh and more.

General admission for the July 10 USAC National Midget “Tuesday Night Thunder” event is just $25 with children under 54” tall just $5.  Anyone wearing a “Red Dirt Raceway” shirt or that has a “Red Dirt Raceway” can koozie receives $5 off admission. 

Red Dirt Raceway features a tailgate area as well for just $100 per car load (fit as many as you can) with one 52 quart cooler permitted.  The tailgate area is first-come, first-served and can be reserved by calling 405-823-8095.

Gates for “Tuesday Night Thunder” open at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying getting under way at 7:00 p.m.

USAC Midwest Midget Championship Next Weekend at Jefferson County Speedway

Lonnie Wheatley, FAIRBURY, Neb. (July 6, 2018) – The inaugural USAC Midwest Midget Championship is just one week away.

Next Friday and Saturday, July 13-14, the USAC National Midget series will take to the 1/5-mile Jefferson County Speedway clay oval in Fairbury, NE, for the Riverside Chevrolet Midwest Midget Championship presented by Westin Packaged Meats and Schmidt’s Sanitation.

Along with the USAC National Midgets, the JayHusker Non-Wing Micro Sprints will be in action on both nights as well.  The Saturday, July 14, USAC feature offers up boosted feature start money of $500.

Competitors must pre-enter to be eligible for the increased Saturday purse. The Midwest Midget Championship at Jefferson County Speedway is the focal point of USAC’s Midwest Midget swing that kicks off at Meeker, Oklahoma’s Red Dirt Raceway with “Tuesday Night Thunder” on July 10 before moving on to Solomon Valley Raceway in Beloit, KS, the next night for the “Chad McDaniel Memorial” and then wrapping up at Missouri’s Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex on Sunday night, July 15.

With capacity crowds on hand for the USAC Midget event at Jefferson County Speedway over each of the past two years, even more seating has been added for this year’s extravaganza along with a new sound system.  The always entertaining event will wrap up on both nights with a live band.

Minden, Nevada’s Tanner Thorson reigns as the defending USAC Midget winner at Jefferson County Speedway after battling past Oklahoma’s Tyler Thomas in the closing laps of last year’s feature.  Thomas was runner-up to Arizona’s Chad Boat in the Inaugural USAC Midget event at Jefferson County Speedway in 2016.   Lincoln, Nebraska’s Frank Galusha has topped the JayHusker Non-Wing Micro Sprint ranks over each of the past two years.
